Water Damage Restoration in Hemet, CA
Our team at DRC Restoration responded to a water loss at a single family home in Hemet, CA. The source was a leaking angle stop behind the refrigerator that affected the kitchen, hallway, bedroom, and foyer. On arrival, technicians completed moisture mapping with a Tramex meter, documented all impacted assemblies, and built a plan to stabilize the structure, protect contents, and guide the home back to pre loss condition.
Assessment and planning
Inspection confirmed Category 1, Class 2, Level 1 water damage. Materials affected included drywall, baseboards, insulation in localized areas, and continuous laminate flooring through the kitchen, hallway, and bedroom. The foyer had tile. We set containment to isolate work zones, recommended an air scrubber for demolition, and coordinated with the insurance adjuster for scope alignment, photos, and daily moisture logs. Pack out was planned for the lower and floor to ceiling pantry cabinets. A kitchen armoire with fragile glassware was slid and protected rather than fully removed.
Mitigation and dry out
Water to the leaking angle stop was capped by plumbing prior to mitigation. Unsalvageable materials were removed with controlled demolition. EPA registered antimicrobial was applied to exposed framing and cavities. Drying equipment was deployed to create an effective drying chamber. Equipment on site included two dehumidifiers and four air movers, with plans to add more air movers after sanitization as needed. Moisture readings were recorded daily until dry standard was achieved. Estimated dry time was three to five days after demolition.
Reconstruction and finishes
An ITEL sample was taken to match the continuous laminate. The rebuild plan included lacing new laminate into the bedroom to tie into existing flooring and installing new tile at the entry. Materials for the entry tile were sourced from a named home center per the customer’s selection. Drywall repairs used new 1/2 inch board with taped seams and matching texture. Surfaces were primed and painted for a uniform finish. Baseboards and trim were reset or replaced to match existing profiles. Fixtures and hardware were reinstalled and contents were returned to their locations.
Result
After mitigation and rebuild, the Hemet residence met dry standard and presented a clean, consistent finish without visible signs of water damage. Flooring transitions were seamless, cabinetry functioned as expected, and the interior was ready for normal use. Documentation, photos, and final readings were provided for the claim file.
